Ownership of copyright
Unless otherwise stated, copyright in original artwork created by Kate Silverwood remains with Kate. Website photographs, text and other content belong to their respective copyright owners.
Purchasing an artwork
Buying an original painting or print transfers ownership of the physical item to you. It does not transfer copyright or grant permission to reproduce the artwork.
You may display, gift or resell your physical artwork. Reproduction rights remain with the copyright owner unless expressly transferred under a separate signed written agreement.
Copying and commercial use
Unless a legal exception applies or you have obtained the necessary permission, you must not:
- Produce copies, prints or merchandise featuring the artwork.
- Scan, photograph or download artwork for reproduction or distribution.
- Use artwork images in advertising, branding, packaging or other commercial materials.
- Publish altered versions or offer digital copies for sale.
Crediting the artist does not, by itself, replace the need for permission.
Sharing your purchase
We welcome customers sharing their own photographs of their artwork displayed in their home on personal, non-commercial social media accounts. Please credit Kate Silverwood Originals and link to our website where possible.
This permission does not extend to making standalone reproductions, selling image files or using the artwork to promote products or services.
You are also welcome to share links to our website and use the sharing features on our official social media posts.
Reproduction by the artist
Unless separately agreed in writing, Kate retains the right to photograph and reproduce her artwork, including after an original has been sold. This may include website displays, promotional materials and print editions issued in accordance with our Print Edition Policy.
Film references and third-party rights
References to films, characters, brands or other cultural works do not imply an official association, sponsorship or endorsement unless expressly stated. Any third-party rights remain with their respective owners.
This policy does not grant permission to use rights belonging to anyone else.
Permission and licensing enquiries
For editorial use, commercial licensing, reproduction or other permissions, please contact us through our Contact page before using the material.
Please identify the artwork and explain your proposed use, including where it will appear, the intended audience and any commercial purpose. Permission is only granted when confirmed in writing and applies solely to the agreed use.
Copyright exceptions
Nothing in this policy restricts uses permitted by applicable copyright law, including relevant fair-dealing exceptions.
